It was straight out of a fashion shoot scene, models, lights, grip assistants, I knew I was in for a treat as I walked into the Look Fabulous Tour featuring Linsday Adler and Lou Freeman. There they were, Adler and Freeman looking fabulous with Spider holsters and Canon camera’s strapped to their side, with hair blowing looking all fierce. Okay, okay, so maybe I Beyonced it up a little, you get the idea. The scene was set for a fabulous day of learning and I was so game. How did I hear of this tour you ask? I came upon a webinar on Creative Live several months back with Lindsay Adler, lets just say I was an immediate fan. A lot of her teachings coincided with what I was doing and it just gave me more confidence in my methods. I briefly had an e-mail chat with her and swore when she came to town I would sooo be at the seminar. Lucky for me, a few months later Look Fabulous Tour was in full swing and being sponsored by the fabulous Millers Lab. The two woman went through Fashion Flare lighting schemes, inspiration, styling, marketing and more. And with the live demonstrations, it was so good it would make you want to slap your mamma. I left feeling totally inspired and empowered. The icing on the cake was that these two woman were totally down to earth and answered any questions you had. If you missed out I would totally suggest hitching a ride to the next town to try to catch the tour. I promise you will be totally inspired. Just check out this awesomeness that I created while on set. Thanks Lindsay Adler and Lou Freeman, you two chicks totally rock!
I am so excited to say that Laurie Perez Photography got our work shown in the Millers Lab booth this year at the PPA and WPPI conferences. We are thrilled that our work can be examples of inspirations for other photographers. The canvas was a gift form them and now hangs in our studio. It’s huge and very impressive in the photo studio gallery. We heart Millers! Check it out.
I know it’s been quite a little while since I blogged. Ekks! Partly because I had some password issues and partly because the holiday rush kicked my “you know what”. haha. So here I am trying to get back into the swing of things. I Wanted to start off the month with a little art stuff. With that said, I really enjoy trying to take time to capture art photography and sometimes inspiration hits me at the strangest times. Not sure why fog makes me sooo happy, but I love shooting when it falls. Here are some random pics I took while we were suppose to be out getting coffee, or what I told my husband we were going to do…lol! If I said photoshoot he would of just pulled the covers over his head. Love to hear what inspires you, comment below!
Foggy day, artistic photos. art photography in houston
Thought I would share this awesome little photo adventure. Houston Fashion week member Victor Quinteros, asked us to capture the Jeans Fashion show. So here is a snippet of our night! Let me say that fashion shows can be intense, especially being back stage with hangers and models flying all over the place! We still got some rocking shots and really enjoyed photographing this jean inspired show.
This week has been eventful! Not just with shoots, but living up to my rightful title as “The Cat Whisper.” Ever since I could remember I have been saving kittens and cats from danger. I recall one time I found a baby kitten in an abandoned home, how did I know she was in there you ask?… I heard it meow from outside and crawled in through a broken window to get the cat. The sad part is I am so allergic to cats so I can’t own one! But, I sure do enjoy saving them! Maybe I would even enjoy doing some pet photography. Check out this little cute-eyed tabby that I found recently under my house. I think someone left her and ran. Good news is I found her a home, and her new momma is a photographer, so you know she is super cool! Now, don’t be leaving cats at my doorstep, if you looking to save one. Haha. Just do the right thing and found these little ones a good home.
School is back in session (silent cheer,) and it reminded me that I never posted the talk I did at IWA. I had a blast talking to the kids about a career in photography and telling my story. The school was awesome enough to let us turn the classroom into a mini studio therefore, allowing each student a glimpse of what it’s like operating a camera in a studio setting. The results are too funny! Can’t wait till next year. I am hoping I can get some models and makeup artist to join in on the fun!
Teaching the kids how to do your best Toddlers and Tiaras Pose!
It’s here! The Making of a Brand. We worked hard photographing this campaign, shooting the products to the models, and loved every minute of it. Go check out Mod Made Goods to purchase your own goodies!
We are featured quite a bit in this video. At one point you can see me on top on a couch! Anything for a shot.
Also be sure to check out all our work featured in the magazine!
Forbes just recently named Houston as one of the coolest city’s. Being a Houston Native, I am sure they weren’t talking about the weather. Houston is filled with a great balance of city & nature. Hidden little reserves like the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, is just one place you can escape the city’s hustle & bustle. Here are a few pics I snapped along the inner loop trail. Enjoy!
I had such a great session with Gabby & Abdeel. They were definitely shy at first, but I have a way of putting people at ease by making it seem like were just friends handing out…with the bonus of a camera to capture all the fun. Because I knew Gabby really wanted a banner with the words LOVE on it, I decided to make one from scratch. I used some old remnants of fabric that were 20 years old, and sewed some craft paper and lettered the words out with a sharpie. The Shoot was too fun, and this couple looks like they walked out of a novela! Thanks Gabby & Adbeel!
I had the opportunity to photograph an amazing collection by the talented designer Sara Lowery Ng of Noble House Designs. The use of bold colors, and imported finds are what makes this line simply rock! Designer, Sara Lowery Ng, finds inspiration from traveling to exotic locations and studying cultures. Other things that inspire her are tribal design and animals! Yep.. animals, especially rescue dogs and cats. Her love of vintage 1970′s west palm beach, estate sales, interior design, books and magazines are also her muses. Her use of tribal and preppy with a bit of vintage gives motion to a one-of-a-kind statement piece. It was a fun jewelry photo shoot, plus she rocked her head shot photography. It was great getting a sneak peek into Sara’s world. Want your own piece click here to visit Nobel house online.
